April 2025 Report

April 2025 marked a vibrant month for the Endorois Indigenous Women Empowerment Network (EIWEN), during which a series of community-centered activities were implemented across multiple thematic areas. These included women’s land rights, youth media empowerment, disability inclusion, cultural preservation, climate resilience, and Indigenous knowledge documentation. With the participation of a wide spectrum of stakeholders including grassroots Endorois women, youth, persons with disabilities (PWDs), elders, civil society partners, and government officials. EIWEN advanced its mission of creating transformative impact through inclusive and participatory processes.

On 17th -19th April 2025; Data Collection for Stand for Her Land Campaign

The Endorois Indigenous Women Empowerment Network (EIWEN) conducted a rapid assessment in the Endorois community as part of the Stand for Her Land Campaign, a grassroots initiative aimed at advancing women’s land rights (WLR) in Kenya. The assessment engaged 10 key informants and facilitated 3 focus group discussions, reaching 34 participants including 13 elderly women, 17 young women, and 4 persons with disabilities (PWDs).

April 23 – Media Training for Youth (Marigat):

EIWEN, With support from Cultural Survival, hosted an in-person media training workshop at Marigat Milimani Resort under the Indigenous Voices Unleashed project. Building on prior online sessions, the training empowered 23 Endorois youth 12 young women, 11 young men, and 3 persons with disabilities with hands-on skills in podcasting, photography, videography, and cultural content development.
