Position Title: Accountant.

Location: Strategic office, Kampi ya Moto-Nakuru.  (P.O Box 253-30403 MARIGAT).

About EIWEN.

The Endorois Indigenous Women Empowerment Network (EIWEN) is a non-governmental social movement dedicated to empowering Indigenous women, persons with disabilities, and marginalized communities in Kenya. EIWEN focuses on land rights, cultural preservation, climate change resilience, and inclusive development. We are seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join our team and support our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Manage day-to-day financial operations, including bookkeeping, accounts                    receivable/payable,    and reconciliations.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain financial records and ensure compliance with accounting standards and organizational policies.
  • Assist in preparing budgets, tracking expenses, and monitoring cash flows for various projects.
  •  Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including preparing and filing statutory returns.
  • Support audits and provide necessary documentation to auditors.
  • Monitor grant funding and prepare financial reports for donors.
  • Develop and implement financial controls and processes to enhance efficiency and accountability.

Qualifications and Experience.

 

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA-k) or equivalent professional qualification is required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as online QuickBooks or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws, financial regulations, and grant management.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects and preparing financial reports for donors is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the challenges and financial dynamics of working with Indigenous communities is an added advantage.
